The Colour of Chameleons
The colour of Chameleons proposes a path of introspective listening, winding through large, human-sized ceramic vessels acting as resonators. Putting your ear against the listening hole of a vessel, an intimate sonic experience unfolds. The interaction between the incoming sound’s changes in air pressure, and the form of the internal cavity of each vessel, shapes how it filters and amplifies what it receives: a sibylline story made of resonant frequencies, poetry, and what comes after the end of a sentence.
In this work, Koenraad de Groot entangles the scientific and the poetic. By experiencing how each vessel interprets the external world in its own way, we are invited to meditate on how every being experiences the world from a different perspective and how, through listening, we can experience different perspectives and open up to the world.
