Entrepôt 7 7

Entrepôt 7 7 is a performance in the Architectural Embodiment series, featuring the activation of an architectural structure through the use of hammers and ropes. During a residency in Montreal, Canada in the summer of 2022, I was invited by Perte de Signal to develop this new performance. This collaboration marked my first time working with other performers, and it allowed me to take on a different role as a conductor. This shift in perspective provided me with valuable insights that I plan to apply to future performances in the series.

The performance takes place at Entrepôt 77, a burned-down building located in the Mile-End neighborhood of Montreal, along the train tracks. The audience experiences the performance from the center of the structure, with two performers on each side. This arrangement creates an immersive experience reminiscent of a tennis match, where the constant movement of hammers and ropes draws the audience's attention from left to right, much like watching a tennis match but not only moving your head, but your whole body back and forth. The performance revolves around an interplay between the lines of the structure and the yellow ropes, which sometimes hang loosely and other times are pulled tight. The constantly shifting perspective of the audience creates a unique play of lines for each viewer.
